Josh Clark

On Sunday, athletes were grouped together by age to participate in a skills challenge were they were recongized for their shot accuracy and improvement made over the weekend. And the winners were...

Athletes were grouped together under the following criteria:
Junior/Seniors
Freshman/Sophmores
Youth

Athletes were given two white balls to shoot anywhere in the cage that resulted in five points each. They were given a yellow ball to aim at one of the lower/middle targets earning 10 points. Lastly, they were given the opportunity to shoot an orange ball aimed to land in one of the top corner targets earning 20 points.

All athletes in attendance on Sunday participated, and enjoyed the opportunity to showcase their newly improved shot from all the skill education received throughout the weekend.

Youth Group:
With five athletes in the group, it was a heated battle that ventured into a three-way tie before Bradley Paterson came away victorious representing the group. Both Kevin Dwyer and Kyle O'Keefe initially tied Paterson with 20 points as each of the athletes missed on the initial opportunities to nail the orange ball in the top left corner. The tie-breaker was viewed by all high school athletes and parents in attendance, and Paterson earned the victory with consistent accuracy.

Freshman/Sophmore Group:
With nearly 20 athletes in the group, the battle stepped up another notch, and again came away with a three-way tie. Athletes Kenny Esposito, Peter Shaver, and Eddie Laux all earned ten points to earn the chance to shoot again for the right to represent their group. After each athlete missed on their initial attempt, Esposito came through with the victorious shot representing not only his group but host Mount Olive High School.

Junior/Senior Group:
This group had the most pride to gain in representing the eldest group of athletes in attendance. The group featured some of the better athletes at the academy, i.e. Brett Alexon, Michael Curran, Alex Amedeo, and Evan Baskt. It was another Mount Olive product that earned the victory, though, as senior Christian Nevola earned 20 points.

DeBartolo Sports University would like to thank all athletes who were on hand for their participation, and congratulate the representatives of each group (pictured ablove and below).
